In order to develop strongly, aquarium plants need lots of light from the red end of the spectrum, with only a little blue, and no or very little UV radiation. In contrast, algae especially thrive in blue light and with a high UV component. Throughout their entire evolution, algae have always lived in water and they have mainly been exposed to strong, direct sunlight and UV light.
In contrast, most aquarium plants originate from tropical forests. They have adapted to the lighting conditions in the shade of dense trees. Here, the UV light and light in the blue spectrum is naturally filtered.
THE SECRET OF THE SPECIAL MOMENT
Daylight, the full spectrum of visible light, is ever present and familiar to us all. It is nothing special for us, we do not pay any attention to it. But moments with special light stay in our memories for a long time. These include sunrises and sunsets, a late afternoon in an Indian summer, and the like.
